Unfit through Drink or Drugs

Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 4: Driving, or being in charge, when under influence of drink or drugs

A person who, when driving or attempting to drive on a road or other public place, is unfit to drive through drink or drugs is guilty of an offence.
A person who, when in charge of a vehicle which is on a road or other public place, is unfit to drive through drink or drugs is guilty of an offence.

Penalty: A minimum disqualification period of 12 months is mandatory. Imprisonment can be imposed.
